35mm, f/1.8, 1/100, ISO 1250

Photoshopped for crop and eye brightening. I'm getting into lightly editing more of my pictures lately.
Yes, another one of Corbin... I like pictures of my kid, ok??

Heavily photoshopped to correct color and exposure.... and to try out some new photoshop actions. =)

35mm, f/1.8, 1/250, ISO 200

My #1 favorite from the workshop, although really it was hard to choose. No, this picture was not posed.

35mm, f/1.8, 1/50, ISO 200

This is the first of many photos I will probably post from a photography workshop I took. I'm hoping this marks a significant change from now on in the quality of my pictures.

35mm, f/1.8, 1/80, ISO 200

Edited for color correction and lightening, but just in Picasa

35mm, f/2.2, 1/60, ISO 100, flash

My speedlight ran out of batteries after the first picture, so this one has a LOT of editing to lighten and color correct. Still, the expression on my niece's face makes me so happy inside every time I look at this.

35mm, f/1.8, 1/2500, ISO 1600

I accidentally left my ISO at 1600 for this one. But at least it shows how good my camera is at noise reduction!

55mm, f/5.6, 1/60, ISO 1600, flash

Sunday, January 9, 2011

18mm, f/3.5, 1/60, ISO 1600

Photographically speaking, this is not the best picture. I was trying to capture Corbin's elusive "fishy face," so I was just sitting there snapping away, not paying much attention to composition or lighting or focus. I just wanted to catch the face! This was my best attempt.

46mm, f/5.3, 1/60, ISO 500, flash

Lightly edited to crop, darken exposure, and increase contrast

Friday, January 7, 2011

28mm, f/5.6, 1/60, ISO 500, flash

Taken for Corbin's 7 month updates; I couldn't get the angle right, but I'm proud of myself for the creative composition

Thursday, January 6, 2011

55mm, f/5.6, 1/200, ISO 100, flash

Not too spectacular from a photographer's standpoint, but ridiculously sweet from a mom's.

55mm, f/5.6, 1/60, ISO 800, flash

Tuesday, January 4, 2011

35mm, f/5.0, 1/30, ISO 800, flash

42mm, f/5.3, 1/10, +1 exp, ISO 3200

Technically from December, but one of my favorites, so I wanted to include it

35mm, f/5.0, 1/60, ISO720, flash

35mm, f/5.0, 1/60, ISO320, flash

A random one, but I like it for some reason. Brit doesn't.

My Project 365

I'm not very good at photography. Shocking, I know. But I love it, and I want to be good at it. So I'm jumping on the Project 365 bandwagon here, and posting a photo-a-day on this blog.

I'm cheating a bit, though. With my job, the concept of finding time EVERY DAY to take a picture is daunting, to say the least. I spend about 3 days a week doing literally nothing but working and sleeping. So some days I will take several pictures, some days none, and through the magic of blogger backdating, I will post a picture a day, and nobody will be the wiser. Except you, because you just read this.

I'm hoping, by the end of the year, to be able to see the improvement in my photography skills, just by finding the time to practice (almost) every day.

Nearly all the pictures will be straight-out-of-camera, if for no other reason than it takes too much time to photoshop everything! If I do edit an image, I'll include that in the description.

Enjoy! And please, feel free (and encouraged!) to leave any feedback or constructive criticism.
